Where haunted house once stood
Dear Sir, — Every Sunday morning at around 9.30am, a stream of young lads walking, two by two dressed in black blazers, corduroy short trousers, shirt and tie would make their way to the Methodist Chapel on Waggs Road. They had come from Danesford School on West Road.
The quiet Sunday air would sometimes be interrupted by the sound of someone singing in a loud off tune voice Please Release Me Let Me Go — John Patrick, riding his Raleigh sit-up-and-beg bicycle with his trusty hyena in tow, would be just finishing his paper round.
