On Saturdays the market was bustling: fresh fruit and veg, Kay’s catalogue seconds, meat products, Cheshire cheese and a hot pork pie. Bargains, plus more bargains, and lots of new things to spend a bit of money on.
Everybody had a job; maybe not a good job, but a job and a few bob.
