Animal rights groups hold protest
Animal Welfare Party deputy leader Jane Smith and local members, along with Cheshire Against Blood Sports, Cheshire Against the Hunt and Cheshire Monitors held a peaceful protest outside the Nantwich Show on Wednesday. Two local hunts were displaying their hounds at the show.
Mrs Smith, who is also an Animal Welfare Party town councillor in Alsager, said: “Hunts use county shows like this as a charm offensive. They’re inviting children to ‘come and meet the hounds’, a feel-good exercise that masks the appalling reality of hunting, which is that wild animals are regularly ripped apart by these packs.
