Author’s book on social issues is tribute to mum
The son of an elderly woman who died after her Alsager care home closed abruptly has written a book featuring articles about her.
Kevin Raftery, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, published Insight into Piece in early December.
His mother Betty had been receiving end-of-life care at Alsager Court when it closed suddenly in 2017 for “financial reasons”. She died shortly after.
Mr Raftery’s book, written over a seven-year period, features articles about his life as a teenager in the 1970s, politics, social housing, mental health and addiction, as well as articles about his dealings with the Care Quality Commission.
