Doris marks 105th birthday
To turn 100 years old is a remarkable achievement, but there are very few who, amazingly, go on to live even longer.
When Doris Harding was born in Alsager on 7th February 1914, Charlie Chaplin’s second film had just been released, the First World War had not yet started, and baseball legend Babe Ruth was getting ready to make his debut for the Boston Red Sox.
Today (Thursday), she is celebrating her 105th birthday, joining an exclusive club of only around 850 people currently living in the UK to reach that age.
