‘Explosion’ at Radway Green

Firefighters tackled a blaze at an Alsager industrial unit, which was caused by a “small explosion”.
Crews from Alsager and Crewe arrived at the unit at the Radway Green industrial estate shortly before 11am on Monday.
On arrival they found staff had already been evacuated, and used thermal imaging cameras to help locate the source of the fire, a small explosion in a boiler room.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Firefighters conducted safety checks and isolated gas and security supplies to the room.
“A specialist engineer was called to the site.
“Firefighters were in attendance for more than one hour.”
