Feeling ‘lucky’ as Australia’s bushfires rage
A former Alsager man who emigrated to Australia with his family has described how they are “surrounded every day by a fog-like smoke”, as the country’s bushfires disaster rages on.
John Roynon lives in a north western suburb of Sydney and when the smoke does clear can see from his home the fires burning in the distant mountains.
Speaking to the Chronicle this week Mr Roynon said the scale of the disaster was “unprecendented”.
He has praised fundraisers in his former home town who are pulling together to support those putting their lives on the line to fight the infernos in Australia.
