Plug pulled on music festival this summer
Alsager Musical Festival will not be going ahead this summer due to rising costs and security required as the popular community event, dubbed one of Cheshire’s best free festivals, grows each year.
Organisers made the decision to scrap the summer weekend of music “with great sadness” and will be looking to find the additional funding required to bring the festival back to Milton Park in 2021.
There was some good news for the festival’s future this week: at a meeting on Tuesday Alsager Town Council approved a £5,000 grant request from organisers, which will be included in the council’s budget for 2020/21.
The annual event was launched in 2009 offering a wide range of music and acts across multiple stages in the park while bands and singers perform in Alsager’s pubs.
