Quarry HGVs ‘have been driven at night for years’
A councillor has claimed that HGVs have been operating at night at White Moss Quarry for years.
It comes as the company which runs the quarry seeks a variation of a planning condition that would allow lorries to operate around the clock.
Land Recovery said it required extra vehicle movements at night so it could complete working the sand and peat quarry due to the planned development of 350 homes at White Moss.
The company has been operating at the Butterton Lane site since the 1970s.
The application is for a variation of a condition relating to planning permission approved in September 2004 and is for 24-hour vehicle movements at White Moss.
