Shake up committee chair appointments
Proposals to shake up how committee chairs are appointed at Alsager Town Council were put forward at last Tuesday’s meeting of the Finance, Policy and Governance Committee.
Labour Coun Julia Hawkins put forward a resolution for appointing committee chairs and vice-chairs.
The aim was to make changes to the process of how chairs and vice-chairs are elected and for how long.
Coun Hawkins proposed limiting the terms of chairs and vice-chairs to one civic year before being up for re-election. This is a change from the current system, whereby chairs are in place for the four-year duration of the council mandate.
