Warehousing protest before appeal
Wintery conditions on Monday did not prevent placard-waving protestors from gathering near the proposed site for five warehouses, the fate of which will be decided by a planning inspector in the coming days.
A planning appeal relating to BAE Systems’ application to build the warehousing within its Radway Green site will be held at Crewe Alexandra Football Club on Tuesday.
Although the land is earmarked for development in Cheshire East Council’s local plan, there has been much opposition to the application due to the loss of green space, a lack of infrastructure in Alsager to support the site, and an abundance of warehouses already available in nearby towns.
