Bomb squad disposes of World War Two shell
A bomb disposal crew had to be called into Biddulph after a member of the public discovered an old World War Two shell lying in a woodland area.
An explosive ordinance disposal team was called to the town on Saturday afternoon to ensure that the device was safe.
Luckily, the team found that the shell had already been expended and could be disposed of without causing any danger to the public.
Moorlands police said later that the shell was a projectile used in Bofors 40mm anti-aircraft guns. They thanked the bomb squad for their efforts.
