British Legion stalwart given top Rotary award
A woman from Biddulph has received one of the Rotary Club’s highest honours, after years of service to the Brownies and the Royal British Legion.
The Rotary Club of Biddulph awarded Elaine Rice the Paul Harris Fellowship, which has never been given to a non-Rotarian before. Only four such fellowships have been presented in the last 50 years.
The award is named after Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney who formed the first Rotary Club at the beginning of the 20th Century. The idea was that professionals with diverse backgrounds could “exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friends-hips, and give back to their communities.”
