Bus pass cuts – pensioners must pay before 9.30
Pensioners will now have to pay to catch the bus during specified hours after plans to cut the county’s bus pass scheme to the legal minimum came into effect.
Staffordshire County Council has reminded older residents that changes to free bus pass travel (the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme) came into effect on Monday, 1st July.
Concession pass holders were previously able to enjoy free travel 24/7, but the authority has now reduced this to the national statutory minimum, meaning residents will no longer be able to use their passes before 9:30am or after 11pm on weekdays.
