Cautious response to mental health first aid training idea

A suggestion that Biddulph’s councillors and community leaders should become involved in mental health first aid training courses has received mixed reac-tions.
Coun Jill Salt is hoping to expand the use of mental health first aid training in the town after recently participating in a two-day course run by Mental Health First Aid England.
The Chronicle reported last week how Coun Salt believed there was “still a long way to go” to end the stigma around discussing mental health.
Such courses as the one she attended aim to help one in 10 people in the country to better understand how they can look after their own and others’ wellbeing.
