Community transport scheme suspended

Moorlands Voluntary and Community Transport said this week it had made “the very difficult decision” to suspend its voluntary and community transport services. The service was put on hold on Monday. Its chief officer Sally Bentley said: “This was not an easy decision. We have to balance the needs of our passengers with the responsibility we have to our volunteers, most of whom are senior in years themselves; as well as taking into account guidance from central Government and local health authorities. “We realise that this is a very challenging time for everyone, but we want to reassure people that we are constantly monitoring the situation and will endeavour to keep them updated.”
