Council was not at fault for back-dating care charges
Care officers in Staffordshire were not at fault when they backdated charges for care services, the Local Government Ombudsman has ruled.
A Mrs C complained to the national watchdog that a Mr D and his mother, Mrs F, accumulated a debt of unpaid care contributions due to a fault by the council.
Mrs C said the council failed to inform Mr D of the Fairer Charging funding system that provided his care. She also said the council failed to inform Mrs F of the scheme when she took over as his financial appointee in September 2018.
