From an open cast mine to job-creating business park

A business owner and former miner have reflected on the “unrecognisable” Victoria Business Park site’s legacy 25 years after opencast mining ended at the former colliery.
Following the pit’s closure in 1982, the National Coal Board announced plans to begin opencast mining on the site, in a move that was met with protests from some residents at the time.
