Home at fault for the way it told woman of father’s death

The local government ombudsman has found a nursing home was at fault in the way it dealt with informing a woman about her father’s death, with Staffordshire County Council responsible as it funded the placement and remains responsible for actions taken on its behalf.
The complainant, Ms B, complained to the local government watchdog that the care and treatment provided to her late father when he was approaching the end of his life by Staffordshire County Council, Newford Nursing Home in Stoke and University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust “fell below expected standards”.
