Homelessness on the rise across Moorlands
A substantial increase in homelessness applications made in the Moorlands was recorded due to recent changes in legislation, the district council has said.
A report discussed by the authority’s Service Delivery Overview and Scrutiny Panel last Wednesday showed that homelessness applications to the council had increased by 190% in the last 12 months.
The total number of applications in the Moorlands in the 2018/19 financial year was 302, almost triple the 104 applications made in 2017/18.
