‘Leaky dams’ could halt floods
Dams could be built in Biddulph, after floodwater entered homes causing damage and bad smells.
A district councillor has invited the Environment Agency to review local streams with a view to “mitigating” the effects of climate change in the town.
Neil Crump, a resident of Station Road where the flooding occurred, said he was left in 13 inches of dirty water in his house after the flooding at the start of August.
Mr Crump said: “My house is currently in the process of being gutted. All the walls are having to be ripped out, as well as the entire kitchen. It looks like a building site, at the minute. Everything a metre off the floor is being taken away.
