New team to find missing persons
Staffordshire Police is piloting a new team that hopes to find missing people quicker in a bid to reduce the chances of them coming to harm.
The missing person investigation team, which will comprise nine constables and two missing persons officers, will serve the whole county and work with operational police officers to assist with low and medium-risk missing person investigations.
The team aims to reduce pressure on frontline officers by taking on desk-based investigations such as liaising with families of the missing person, speaking to witnesses, screening CCTV, obtaining mobile phone data and coordinating with relevant partner agencies.
