Rethink over proposal to cut residential education

Funding cuts to special schools’ residential educa-tion provisions have been put on hold, after cam-paigners branded them “outrageous”.
Staffordshire County Council had taken the decision to stop funding services beyond Septe-mber 2020 due to “limited budget” and told schools to “look for alternative sources of funding”. The authority said this week it would reconsider that decision.
There were concerns Horton Lodge school in Rudyard would have been affected by the cuts. Other schools that would have been affected in Staffordshire included Cicely Haughton School in Wetley Rocks, Loxley Hall near Uttoxeter, and Walton Hall Academy in Eccleshall.
