Retired firefighter switches off his pager and can relax

A Biddulph firefighter, one of the longest-serving in Stafford, has retired after 38 years.
Dave Davies, (56), joined the county fire service in September 1979 in a retained position at the local fire station when he was 18.
When he wasn’t fighting fires Mr Davies worked as a mechanic in a local textile mill, and also served as a coal miner.
