Scared to call police due to reprisals fear
Residents have been left “scared to call the police” to report what they believe could be drug dealing and prostitution, Biddulph’s councillors have said as they look to establish stronger links with local officers.
Councillors have grilled police to raise their concerns regarding crime in the town, particularly drug use, anti-social behaviour and even prostitution, and find out what was being done to tackle it.
Coun Jill Salt invited Sgt Antony Baddeley, of Staffordshire Police’s local Biddulph team, to a meeting of the Town and Community Committee last Tuesday to discuss local crime.
She said: “Throughout the election period I spoke to a lot of residents who are very concerned about drug use in our town.
