Six-year-old’s 5K run raises £360 for the Poppy Appeal
A “kind-hearted little lad” has raised hundreds of pounds for the Royal British Legion by completing a 5K run in the pouring rain.
Six-year-old William Chambers and his mum Angela, from Biddulph, took part in the Poppy Run at Heaton Park in Manchester last Saturday, raising an impressive £360 for the charity ahead of Remembrance Day.
The pair braved the downpour to complete the run in a time of around 42 minutes, raising money for a charity that is close to their hearts because of their family’s military background.
