A54 Bosley to Buxton road is now closed for 16 weeks
A major road that links east Cheshire to Derbyshire has been closed for four months for essential repairs.
The A54 was shut on Sunday for 16 weeks to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists while roadworks to upgrade safety barriers are carried out.
The stretch of road, which connects the High Peak town to Congleton, Biddulph as well as other towns in Cheshire, will be shut 24 hours a day until November.
A Cheshire East Council spokesman said: “The length of road is within the Peak District National Park and has ecological, geotechnical and environmental constraints.
