Cabbies’ ‘illegal’ taxis warning
Congleton cabbies have claimed the council is leaving them “out in the cold” after its “failure” to crack down on “illegal” taxis picking up late-night fares in the town without a pre-booking.
One concerned driver said it was “only a matter of time” before something happened to a passenger heading home in an out-of-town taxi after a night out.
Paul Charles, whose company Fastax is licensed with Cheshire East Council to operate in Congleton, said local drivers have been complaining for years about unlicensed cars from outside of the town “robbing them of trade”.
