Cheshire East to review mayoral role and prayers

Major changes to the way Cheshire East’s mayor operates will be discussed today (Thur-sday), as part of a review that could see the role updated for the first time since the council was created.
The changes being considered include reviewing the practices of appointing a chaplain and praying at the start of council meetings, altering or removing the requirements to wear mayoral robes, and changing the rules governing the mayor’s attendance of public engagements.
