Church’s £7,000 funding bid for ‘gold-plated chairs’
An application submitted by a Congleton church to the town council would see up to half the annual budget spent on chairs, if approved.
Plans submitted by Congleton Pentecostal Church went before the first meeting of the new council’s Finance and Policy Committee on Thursday.
The church, on Cross Street, has requested “£7,266, or any contribution towards this amount”. The application for financial assistance only mentioned that it would be used for “chairs.”
The committee has an annual grant allowance budget of £15,000.
