Almost 40 students at Congleton High School achieved five or more top grades in their GCSEs.
The new-look exams are now marked by numbers one to nine, with grade nine being higher than an A*.
Some exams are still marked by the traditional A* to C system during a transition period
Daisy Tranter, (16), was one of the students who achieved a number of grade nines and A*s.
She said: “I was shocked — I don’t know how it happened.
