Council calls for new houses to be demolished
Town councillors have passed a motion calling for some houses to be demolished to “send a clear message” to developers on the importance of meeting their planning obligations
Councillors accused Redrow Homes of failing to live up to its commitments in the original planning application.
Their main concern was the imposing height of the new properties on Macclesfield Road, Congleton, and proximity to existing houses in Galloway Green and Whittaker Close.
An application for the same development came before the committee back in August, where councillors considered another “variation of conditions” to do with the drainage, but objected to that on the grounds that it increased the height of the properties.
