Cyclist’s survey flagged up ‘near misses’ every 40 miles
Cyclists are involved in an incident with a vehicle every 40 miles on average, according to a Congleton man’s survey.
Roy Hayhurst of Congleton Cyclist Group asked six cyclists to keep a record of how many “near misses” they were involved in throughout April.
He said: “Personally, it showed up what we already know. You get a group of cyclists together and pretty soon the conversation moves towards the number of incidents and about drivers trying to drive them off the road, blasting their horn.”
