Extra £1.8m in link road funding
An extra £2.2m has been earmarked by borough chiefs to spend on two major road projects.
At a full council meeting on Thursday, members of Cheshire East Council voted to set aside an extra £1.8m on the Congleton Link Road, taking the total spend to £23.8m.
Members also voted to set aside an extra £400,000 to be used on the A500 dualling project between Weston and junction 16 of the M6, meaning Cheshire East Council’s total contribution to that scheme will be £4.5m.
Coun Rachel Bailey, leader of the council, said it needed to budget for “compensatory claims” on the Congleton Link Road scheme — but other matters were not disclosed in public.
