Farming feels the heat in long, hot summer
Cows are being sent to the slaughterhouse as farmers are unable to afford to feed them due to the heatwave.
Farmer Ray Brown, who has owned dairy cows for 45 years in Holmes Chapel, has described the effect the soaring temperature and prolonged dry weather have had on food supplies.
He said: “Everybody is extremely short on food for the cows now.
“A lot of cattle have had to go for slaughter, which is really unfortunate.
