Fence Lane flood ‘could be lethal’, say residents
“Fed up” residents have expressed fears that water coursing down a rural lane could be “lethal”, and said they had been waiting more than a month for something to be done about it.
Two anonymous resid-ents said they had been reporting floods on Fence Lane, Newbold Astbury, to Highways England for five weeks.
The water is “coming out powerfully” from what they believed to be a blocked land drain in an area that has very little street lighting. Their main concern was that when the cold winter nights closed in, the water could freeze and cause “serious damage”.
