Foal’s birth has delivered glad tidings to rare breed
A rare breed mare has finally given birth to a filly foal after her seven previous pregnancies all produced colts.
Mati, a Cleveland Bay mare, gave birth at a farm in Rushton Spencer.
It’s hoped the arrival will help boost numbers in the breed, which has declined rapidly in recent years.
Gillian Conroy, of Hall House Farm, said: “I could see Mati was foaling and went to check that everything was fine, and it’s wonderful to see a healthy filly foal arrive in the world.
“Both Mum and daughter are doing well.”
