Georgette is Astbury’s May queen
This year’s Astbury May Queen has been chosen.
Astbury St Mary’s Primary School pupil Georgette Amies, (9), had her name pulled out of a top hat by last year’s May queen, Savannah Jones.
Rosie Rowe and Evie Hartley, both 10, then had their names selected as Georgette’s attendants.
The boys also have honorary positions on May day, which is the third Saturday in May, including crown bearer, sceptre bearer, and sword bearer.
During her year as May queen Georgette will visit other villages and be an ambassador and fundraiser for the school.
It is a tradition that Astbury has celebrated for more than 100 years.
