Gritting cuts ‘messing with people’s lives’
A decision by Cheshire East Council to cut the number of routes from its road gritting programme has been branded “ridiculous” and a “nightmare” by Congleton residents.
More than 200km of roads across the borough will be axed from the gritting schedule including heavily used roads in Congleton such as Fol Hollow and Padgbury Lane, which are also school routes.
Following last Tuesday’s decision by Cheshire East’s Cabinet James Pirie-Warsop, on-duty manager at the Heath Farm pub on Padgbury Lane, said: “It is ridiculous, they are messing with people’s lives. You can’t put people’s safety on money.
