‘Honest and integrity’ are council’s new core values
A number of meetings were held by Congleton Town Council before a decision was made to replace what had been it core values of “democracy and transp-arency” and replace them with with “honesty and integ-rity”.
One councillor has said they hoped the removal of the words was not to “conceal” anything from electors.
At least four meetings of officers and councillors had taken place about the core values word change over the last three months.
Putting together the town’s 2020-23 business plan, councillors established the key issues that will affect the town over the next three years — and approved a new annual budget that will see the annual town council precept, its share of council tax, rise per household.
