Leisure centre redevelopment plan approved
The £8m redevelopment of Congleton Leisure Centre will go ahead after the plans were approved by Cheshire East Council yesterday (Wedn-esday).
Councillors on the Northern Planning Committee unanimously approved the application, which will include replacing the existing swimming pool with a new six-lane pool, creating a new learner pool, community meeting spaces, a soft play area with café access and a gym facilities over two floors.
Sport England, the public body responsible for grassroots sport, had originally objected to the redevelopment plan on behalf of the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
