New tree-clearing scam alert
Police have alerted people about a new doorstep scam.
Cheshire East trading standards has warned of rogue traders who are targeting Congleton. The traders offer a tree-clearing service, but overcharged one victim and accompanied them to the bank to draw out the money.
PCSO Jessica Shore said: “Please be very wary of leaflets from traders that are pushed through your door.
“Always check these traders on approved websites or on buywithconfidence.gov.uk”.
Anyone who has been a victim of a scam or rogue trader can report it to the police on 101 or to trading standards for Cheshire East on 0300 123 5015.
