Parents battling for autistic son’s place in school
An 11-year-old boy with autism has been left without a school place because of an ongoing battle with the local authority, his parents have said.
Stephanie Martin said her son Oliver, who attended Quinta Primary School in Congleton, was stuck at home when he should be starting his first year of high school. She said the family felt as though they “have been dragged through mud for years, and treated like we’re not good enough”.
Mrs Martin said Oliver not being in school was the “direct result of Cheshire East Council repeatedly missing deadli-nes and their failure to indicate on forms that Oliver’s future school would need to accom-modate children with special needs”.
