Relationship cracks over Christmas spell divorce
Solicitors in east Cheshire have said they see a “surge” in enquiries about divorce proceedings after the festive period.
According to the Office of National Statistics, solicitors deal with twice as many people looking to split after the Christmas break than at any other time.
Richard Barratt, the head of the family team at Poole Alcock Solicitors, which has offices in Congleton, Alsager and Sandbach, said he sees a sharp rise in divorce and separation enquiries following the festive season.
“We get a real surge in the first week of January, and in the first week of us coming back to work we get three times as many enquiries.
