SID to be installed in Lower Heath to catch speeders
New Speedwatch techn-ology is to be installed in the Lower Heath area of Congleton after drivers were caught driving in excess of 60mph, but residents have called on the council to apply the technology over a wider area.
Congleton town counc-illors approved the installation of a speed indicator device, comm-only known as a SID, on Manchester Road after a local Speedwatch group recorded a high number of cars speeding.
However, one resident said that “consideration” should also be given to Daisybank Drive and other adjoining roads after cars were reported to be going over 40mph, and an “industrial-size tractor” was spotted on a driving test along the residential lanes.
