Shared-use cycleway to be included in link road
Cycling campaigners and the builder of Congleton’s link road have approved plans to ensure that cyclists get full use of the new road.
In a letter to the Chronicle this week, Peter Hall of Congleton Cycling Campaign, newly-appointed Cheshire East Council sustainable transport champion Suzie Akers-Smith and Daniel Cawthra of Graham Construction, said that “a significant number of issues” that had been worrying the cycling community had been resolved.
The chief one of these is that Graham Construction will provide a three-metre wide shared-use cycleway for the “major length” of the new road, and said it will be built at the same time as the road, and not delayed waiting for subsequent housing developments, as had been feared.
