St Peter’s bells silent for year
The bells at Congleton’s oldest church won’t ring for the next 12 months while repair work is completed.
It means the bell tower at the Grade One listed St Peter’s will be silent during a nationwide commemoration in November on the centenary of the end of World War One, when church bells throughout the country will ring.
A parishioner has described it as “a big blow”.
