‘Thoughtless’ plan to flatten cricket pavilion

Plans to demolish a pavilion that was dedi-cated to a historic school’s war fallen have been branded a “disgrace”.
King’s School, in Macclesfield, is leaving its home of 175 years in Cumberland Street next year for a state-of-the-art building in Alderley Road.
Following the move, developer Hillcrest Homes is hoping to demolish parts of the Cumberland Street site to help pave the way for 115 new homes — including two science blocks, an arts block and a music block, (writes local democracy reporter Stephen Topping).
