Unelected candidate aims to hold town council to account
He may have failed to win a seat for Labour at Congleton Town Hall following May’s local elections, but Richard Walton has vowed to be an external force, exerting pressure on the town council whenever he feels it is necessary.
Mr Walton has been busy in that role since May’s poll.
He described the new council’s decision to vote against publishing attendance records at council meetings clearly on its website as a “missed opportunity”.
