Wallpaper company move paves way for new homes
Developers are to build 138 homes in Holmes Chapel, follo-wing approval of the application by counci-llors.
A 100-year-old wallpaper factory will relocate to Congleton as part of the proposal.
Fine Décor, a wallpaper manufacturing company based at Victoria Mills, will make way for the new development, following a planning saga of more than 10 years. The managing director said it was a “relief” to have some certainty about the future, after being “in limbo”.
Anwyl Homes originally submitted plans to build the development at the Victoria Mills site in 2008.
Cheshire East Council’s Strategic Planning Board finally gave the green light last Wednesday after 11 years of delay.
